Spyro, who recently appeared as a guest on the Tea With Tay podcast, spoke about how hurt he was to see some of his less experienced colleagues in the music business rise to fame before him despite having paid to have his songs promoted on blogs back in the day.

He added that, unbeknownst to him at the time, God was teaching him through his delayed achievement that it was by his grace and not by his talent.

Spyro stated, “I paid to have my song appear on NotJustOkay, a significant platform at the time. The music doesn’t sound good once you hear them vocal tag it. I therefore believed that [I would explode].

“So I thought, ‘Eh! Fireboy blow before me?'” when he started to blow. God, I still do it. And throughout it all, God was showing me that it is by his grace and not by my ability.

Oxlade as well. I mean, na me, before Oxlade exploded… Oh God! In 2018, Oxlade appeared in my show. For the song, I also brought Mayorkun and Davido. In 2018, Mayorkun and Davido and I recorded a song. I was sure the song would blow me away.

“I would want followers to keep an eye out for Oxlade by posting about him on my social media platforms. And he would come thank me in my direct message. He then just blew in front of me. God, what the heck is going on?

“It hurts me to go, but Oxlade and Fireboy blow me away.” Not so much agony, but it set me off. Although I’m glad they blew when they did, these are the same people who I worked with in the industry before. God, what the heck is going on? Thus, I was in excruciating pain. It was annoying. I would shed a tear. I would battle God.
